Condolences need to go to Eunice Butterfield and family on the passing of PGP Al Butterfield. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 28, 2013. Service plans pending. He will be greatly missed by so many!

Date Correction

The invitations to the King County Past Matrons & Past Patrons Association Spring Luncheon have an incorrect date.  The correct date for the lunch is: Friday, April 19th.  Reservations need to be made no later than Tuesday, April 16th.

New Grand Representative

  I (Sandra K Henry, Grand Secretary) traveled to Analia Chapter in Edmonds last night (March 7th) and presented Jan Etchison with the commission as Grand Representative of Maine.

    For the presentation I asked Grand Officer's and Escorts in attendance to assist me (Stephanie; Rodger; Helen, Don & Jan). I asked Stephanie to give each of them an envelope and said so all could hear - that I didn't care who got what. Privately I'd asked Stephanie to make sure that Jan got Envelope #5.

    I then read some fact about Maine - such as they make 90% of the world's toothpicks, and then had each envelope opened and read. In the envelope was a card, the outside of the card had a different interesting fact about Maine - such as it's illegal to walk down a street in a certain Maine city when playing a violin. When they opened to the inside of the envelope there was a comment from me like "I don't know if the new Grand Representative of Maine can play a violin but I do know that she, or is it a he, is very proficient at the 'mouth' harp."

    When we got to envelope #5 the front of the card had a summation of all the comments about the new Grand Representative and inside was the name. Jan only got through two of the summation points before she looked startled, then looked at me, turned red, opened the envelope and started crying.

    It was very satisfying and fun!!!

    We had 9 former Grand Representatives in attendance including Ken Taylor, and his wife Ann, the junior past Grand Representative of Maine.

Terry Cramer, Grand Warder, traveled to Faith Chapter on 4 Mar 2013 and presented the Grand Representative Commission to Oregon to Patricia DeMuth.

Sad News

Betty Holand, Former Grand Representative of Texas, passed away February 23rd.  She was Grand Treasurer Emeritus and Past Grand Adah.

 A service has been planned for March 16 at 11:00 a.m. -- Coleman Mortuary Chapel, 422 5th St in Hoquiam.

New Grand Representative

Judy Scott as my driver and I, went on a road trip (on Monday, February 25th) in a motorcycle with side car around the chapter room (Esther Chapter in Port Angeles) stopping at four different members giving them clues to figure out what city and state we were in.  The first stop was Las Vegas, the second was New Orleans, third was Washington DC, with the final stop being in the East giving WP Paul Carmean a clue as to where we were.  I then gave KC a few more clues and when they both figured we were in New York, I then gave her the prize for answering correctly which was the Grand Representative Pin for New York.  She was surprised beyond belief!  Everyone gave her a standing ovation as I gave her the rest of the information on her commission.  It was great fun!!!

Quilt Fabric Needed!!

HELP!  Sister Vivian Dugan of Grand Coulee Dam chapter (and her elves) have, for a number of years, stitched, tied and donated quilts for those battling cancer and veterans.  They have decided that this year they will concentrate on quilts for hospitalized children.  This project takes a lot of cotton fabric and she hopes that you might have yardage or scraps of juvenile prints that you would be willing to donate to them.  If you do, you can either ship to her (she is Warder @ GCD Chapter) or, if you see me or Linda Carlson along the OES trail, we would be happy to transport them back to her.  Any questions – Marjoe Richards, PGM, 509-633-1494.  Thanks and big OES HUGS!
