Golf Tournament Reminder!!!

Don't forget to sign up for the OES Golf Tournament benefiting Scottish Rite Care Childhood Language Disorders program. The date is Friday, August 8th at Whispering Firs Golf Course at McChord AFB. Even if you don't play golf, come out i...n the afternoon and spend time with friends from all our organizations and then enjoy the delicious BBQ and raffle prizes. Cost of the BBQ only is $20 per person. Deadline for reservations is next Monday, July 21st. Forms are on the OES blog at http://oeswashington.blogspot.com/ in the right hand column under the calendar. Hope to see you all there!

Pigs (coins) for Cancer

Thank you to everyone who filled up the piggy banks for cancer this year.  If you still have one of the piggy banks or just have some loose change (or paper money) that you want to contribute to cancer research, please bring it to Grand Chapter.  Our chairman, Gladis Rudd, will have her coin counting machine there and we will have a piggy bank available for you to deposit your money.  All the money collected at Grand Chapter counts for Mary Ann's year, so let's get her off to a great start and help wipe out cancer.

"Fund Day"

Vineland Chapter no longer has our dining room, so we have cleaned out our kitchen , and have these items we thought might ‘sell’ at the 'fun-fund-raising day'. I thought if people knew ahead what there is, it may help them. SILVER PLATE: sugar/creamer set; two coffee pots; one coffee pot (lid needs repair); one tea pot; one 5-candle candelabra; one set of silverware, in two chests, with the OES symbol engraved on the handle; 48 glass punch cups; 50 china cups, with OES symbol. Bowling Tournament update!!!!

To: Bowling Fun Day participants

Rodeo Bowl in Ellensburg has gone out of business so we are now scheduled to bowl at the Nob Hill Bowling Center in Yakima. The address is 3807 Nob Hill Blvd.  

The date remains April 27, 2014, but the time has changed to 10:00 a.m. This is an accommodation by the bowling alley as they usually open at 11:00.

The registration fee is still $15 per bowler, but the charge to use the facility is now $10.00. This is half what is cost at Rodeo Bowl and covers 4 games: 2 regular games; 9 pin no tap, and Scotch doubles. The price also includes tax and shoes.

Lunch will be available after 11:00 and will be served on the lanes. The restaurant will provide 1 or 2 runners to take orders. There is also a dining room for those who prefer dining away from the lanes.

If you haven’t registered your team, please do so as soon as possible.

Golf tournament reminder!

If you are planning on going to the golf Tournament at McCord Friday, August 9th, THE DEADLINE FOR SENDING IN YOUR REGISTRATION IS THIS FRIDAY, JULY 19!!! This is an absolute deadline because everyone attending must go through a screening process to have access to the golf course which is on the base. I encourage you to attend. If you don’t play golf, there is plenty of time to socialize in the afternoon and a fun dinner and raffle.

Bowling Fun Day

    An amazing group of hearty souls braved snow and rain on April 7^th to meet in Ellensburg at the Rodeo Bowl for the 5^th annual Bowling Fundraiser. There were five teams registered this year, but only four were able to come. (Vern, Judy, and Mary Ann Herrst had out of state company and had to miss this year.) All together 19 bowlers competed as we played one game of regular bowling and one game of nine pin no tap. Scores were determined while we took a break for lunch and then played a game of Scotch Doubles. The high scoring team (without handicap) was the Spokane Guys and a Gal. Team members are Phil Green, Dick Weigel, John Chamberlain, Bill Weigel, and Bonnie Rail. High scorer (without handicap) was John Chamberlain, and Rebecca Fleishman was the high scorer (with handicap). The Lewis Ladies of Faith team took top place (with handicap). Members on this team are Karen Karnes, Rebecca Fleishman, and Lynn Tebbutt. This year they brought a friend, Lindsey. Other teams competing were: WGM’s Gals with team members Gerry Mosler, Jill Okicich, Janna Hagerty, and Jamie Mosler, and Alley Oops with team members Sharon Singleton, Ray Berrian, and Marjorie Bamford. Last minute entries were Billie Abers, JoDee DeRosier (Grand Marshal), Scott, and Lindsey. They were each assigned to one of the other teams.

        Several Grand Officers stopped by during the day to add encouragement and share lots of laughter. WGP Bob and escort Nancy; AGP Rodger and escort Helen; GC Mary Ann; and Grand Martha, Jean Ballard. Thanks to everyone who came to bowl and to those who came to support us. Not only was money added to the Grand Chapter funds, but those who attended had a fun time. Plans for next year are underway for a bigger and better tournament!

OES ANNUAL FUN DAY

To All Masonic Families

            Our Annual Fun Day is planned for June 1, 2013, 8am to 3pm at the Tumwater Masonic Lodge, 521 North ST SE, Tumwater, and we need your HELP.

            We are asking you to go through your closets and dig out all the formals, tuxedos and street clothes that are taking up unwanted space. We do ask that all items be clean and in good condition. Most dresses and suits will sell for five dollars or less each. There will be a few racks of higher prices, but still very affordable.

            We will have a Penny Auction, Wet Sponge Toss, Books and Baked goods for sale. The Grand Officers will be in charge of the Penny (Quarter) Auction table. You can also give them your clothing you wish to sell, and they will get these items to one of the Fun Day Committee members.

            You won’t want to miss the pancake breakfast, or the BBQ lunch - HAMBURGERS, AND HOT DOGS grilled by our Worthy Grand Patron. There will also be an Ice Cream booth and a beverage booth, so we promise you won’t go hungry.

            In addition, this year we’re inviting our youth groups to join us. They may participate in any way they wish, i.e. car washes, Grand Officer handmade items, etc. and all of those proceeds will go directly to their projects.
