GR HN - Gail Nickerson, Lakeside - Delaware - Nov 14, 2009

Almost 60 members and guests gathered at Lakeside Chapter in Bellevue on Saturday, November 14th as they honored their Grand Representative of Delaware Gail Nickerson.

Gail, who is Worthy Matron, and her Worthy Patron Scott Anderson opened Chapter and then she turned her gavel over to AM Joanne Bornstine who did a great job of leading the meeting.

Responses were given by Jean Ballard for the Grand Representatives, Gerry Mosler for the Grand Officers and Cheri Moll for the past grands.
The room was filled with current and former Grand Representatives.

Grand Sentinel Frank Pascoe enjoyed posing for pictures with Gail.

After the meeting we gathered for delicious refreshments - including chicken nuggets (the Delaware blue hens? It was a wonderful afternoon.

GR HN - Tess Kent, Nesika, Nova Scotia & PEI - Nov 13, 2009

There was a nice crowd at Nesika Chapter to honor their member Tess Kent, Grand Representative of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island in Washington.

Several current and past Grand Representatives joined in the festivities.

Wonderful responses were given by Amy Smith for the Grand Representatives, Sandy Henry for the Grand Officers, Sandy McAmmond for the Past Grand Matrons and Al Butterfield for the Past Grand Patrons.

The only damper on the night was when Al announced that he and Eunice have sold their house in Renton and purchased one in Coeur D'Alene. They will be moving over there permanently in mid-December and we will certainly miss them here on the west side.

After the meeting everyone enjoyed delicious cookies and ice cream in the dining hall.

Reception - Grand Adah, Kristine Ford, Nov 7, 2009

(Unofficial count) About 120 members and friends braved the rainy weather for a warm and sunny reception for Grand Adah Kristine Ford of Pacific Chapter. The reception was held at the Artisan in Ilwaco and the room was filled with love and laughter.

WGP Dennis Okicich couldn't resist having a picture taken with the guest of honor.

The Grand Officers were pleased to gather for Kristine and Grand Martha Penny Bosley did a great job of roasting her. Other responses were given by one of our newest General Grand Chapter Committee members - Gerry Shafer, PGM. Also responding were Marilyn Hoots, PGM and Paul Runyan who provided us with a very funny top 10 list dedicated especially to our Grand Adah.

Kristine's handsome husband and escort Gene was obviously proud of her and happy to be by her side.

It was a beautiful day despite the weather and everyone had a wonderful time.

DI Honor Night reports - Joanne Hash & Janie Larson

On Saturday, September 26th, eleven Dresden Stars and Eastside Chairman Nancy Peterson gathered at Welcome Chapter in Shelton to honor Sister Joanne Hash, along with numerous members from the chapters she instructs: Welcome, Port Orchard, and Belfair. The theme of “Sweet Land of Liberty” was beautifully carried out with red, white, and blue décor, and the meeting was officiated by Worthy Matron Cathy Foseide and Worthy Patron Robert Shaw.

Not only did Sister Joanne wear a ‘stars and stripes’ sequined vest, she sported US flag ‘antennae’ in her hair! A fun time was had by all!

October 6th marked Deputy Instructor Honor Night #2, this time east of the mountains in Cle Elum. Members from Alpha, Grace, Sunnyside, and Syringa Chapters gathered to honor their Deputy Instructor, Sister Janie Larson, along with five Dresden Stars, the East and Westside Chairmen, and a large contingent of Past Grand Officers and Escorts from the Heritage Grand Family.

The evening’s entertainment was glorious Celtic music sung by local student Whitney Robinson – what an amazing voice! Worthy Matron Jeanine Baunsgard and WP Ken Larson were awesome hosts for this evening of Celtic fun. PGM Joanne Clark and PGP Terry Wiggins responded on behalf of the Past Grand Matrons and Patrons, while Dresden Star Pam Lee responded on behalf of the Deputy Instructors.

The Dresden Stars helped out by pro-temming three of the starpoint stations, and when the other two were vacated just before closing by the refreshment chairmen, all five stations were filled by Deputy Instructors in their sparkling teal dresses. What a pretty sight!

Reported by Judy Turchin, Westside Chairman

Catching up!

If you have dates for installations at your Chapter or Chapters in your area, please send them to us so we can get them on the calendar.

Lori Herman from Pacific Chapter gave me a disc full of pictures of the OV of Pacific and Montesano Chapters on August 13th and Mary Jane Park's (GR of Quebec in WA) trip to Quebec's Grand Chapter. Pictures of the OV are below and the ones from Quebec are in a photo album on the side bar.

Good evening everyone,

All General Grand Appointments and officers are wearing the same style dress. It is 3 piece with a flowing skirt, a top that has rhinestones around the neckline, and a long sleeved jacket with rhinestones around the edge of the front & back of the neck and the end of the sleeves.

Grand Chaplain tries out for "So You Think You Can Dance"

I'm working on the pictures for Nevada Grand Chapter and ran across the 'reason' John Chamberlain, Grand Chaplain had to have another Knee Surgery. Yep, it truly is amazing what goes on in Nevada.

Actually it was this 'parade' at their all members banquet that did him in. Thought you might want to see the 'other side' or 'the rest of the story' type of pictures. Just for trivia the gentleman in the blue teeshirt right behind John is Rick Tanner, PGP of Nevada and it is his wife Debbie who is the new WGM of Nevada.

As to who the lady is with John you will have to ask him what her name is as I'm on a gag order (hee hee heeeeee)

Hugs
Dan Vorhees

#30 - Would amend procedures for filling vacancies of Elected GGC Officers at Triennial Assemblies.

#43 - Clarifies certain responsibilities of the Office of the RWG Secretary as set forth in the Constitution and Bylaws.

We began the morning with a joint breakfast of the West Virginia members and Washington members. It was nice to meet those we will be working with for the next 6 years. Washington wore our green jackets and West Virginia wore their red jackets. I have included several photos.

I am including pictures of the decorations in the Grand East. They include a stained glass Cherokee Emblem, an eagle carved out of wood, a small buffalo of which there are two, the pedestals in the Grand East that have dream catchers inside the glass, and the Indian Paint Brush (flower) and yellow mums.

You can also see your WGM and WGP in front of the large white buffalo. #031 is where the WGM has the bull by the horns, with WGP ready to catch her if needed. We are having fun.

One last picture with PGP J. Paul Fitsimmons, Florence, and Margaret Sherman as they are reading the paper.

Great Washington news from Australia

Well, now that it is all said and done with - the 'secret' is out!

I have been installed as District Grand Esther, of the South Brisbane District Grand Chapter of Queensland. It has been quite the journey for this PM of Laurel #47 (and former June Bug Deputy Instructor!). After 2 years in the east of my local chapter (Mizpah #12) here in the Grand Chapter of Queensland, the District Grand Matron of the district we are in has seen fit to appoint me to my favorite (and original position!) star point. Some of you may get the joke about having someone of my stature as queen - with 'lesser' mortals being in the other star points, but in this case (at least height wise) it was true!

It was a wonderful day in Toowoomba, QLD with lots of great food and even a bit of rain in this drought-stricken area. Who would have thought that the sound of thunder would bring so many smiles to the star members assembled for our WDGM Rosalie Ruddick's installation? To top it off, I had a wonderful ride up there (a 2 hour drive from here on the Gold Coast) with a PDGM and PDGP (Margaret and Bruce Barringer) - as well as a fellow star point (DG Electa - Lydia Webster)! We even made it home with most of the traffic clogs all going the other way.

There are a few members from Queensland going to the US for an extended visit, and I believe some of them may even end up in Seattle before they come home. So - if you hear some Aussie accents between now and December around chapters in the Seattle-area, introduce yourself and think of me. While I may have lost some of my web-footing from the west-side, I will always be a Washington OES member!

Star Love,

** Linda A. Lorentz Fletcher, PM - Laurel #47, Washington Grand Chapter *and* ,PWM Mizpah #12, District Grand Esther, South Brisbane District Grand Chapter, Grand Chapter of Queensland, United Grand Chapter of Australia

WooHoo! Congratulations Linda! Washington is proud of you!

(Reprinted from the Stars of Washington - thanks Connie!)

General Grand Chapter - 2009

Our first report from PGM Diane Osborne at General Grand Chapter in Tulsa.

Hi,

Well, we are having fun. We were in a march this morning. We made an Indian Headdress. I guess it was neat. Dennis is loving the huge buffalo in the East. The large Teepee is huge. The GGCO's came out of the teepee when they were introduced.
I have a list of 51 people that I have seen from Washington. I believe there are 19 past Grands.

Dennis Okicich carried the Washington flag when John Grobler and Barbara were introduced.
Today we saw a drill team from Georgia. I have sent some pictures.

We start the business tomorrow.

The Spirit Choir is very good. We have really enjoyed the music. Picture included.

Last night at the Banquet we heard a Children's Indian Choir. They were very good. I forgot my camera so I have no pictures.

I'll get close ups of some of our members tomorrow in their outfits.

Chocolate Hugs & Kisses,
Diane
