Deadline for Meal Registration at Grand Chapter

The deadline for registering for meals at Grand Chapter is June 1st, so make sure you get your forms in right away.  Darlene Wiggins says a lot of you are procrastinating this year and she really needs to get the information into the Sundome and Clarion.  Hope to see lots of you at the breakfasts, lunches and dinners.  All breakfasts are at the Clarion, but this year - the rest of the meals will be at the Sundome.  That means lots less travel back and forth, so be sure to take advantage of it.

Deadline for meals - JUNE 1ST!!!!!!!

Tote Bag Lost at Rainbow Mom & Dad Honor Event

"On Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Rainbow Mom and Dad's Honor event, a white tote bag full of personal items with "Holland America" on it was mistakenly put into a dress or suit bag (in the rear pocket) that was hanging in the cloak room near the downstairs entrance of Alki Lodge in West Seattle. Eastern Washington Grand Representatives Club

Dear Current and Former Grand Representatives:
Our next meeting will be Friday, April 27, 2012, at 12:30 P.M. at the Eagle’s Lodge, 6410 North Lidgerwood Street, Spokane, WA. If you have not been there before, Lidgerwood is a couple of blocks east of Division Street just north of Francis Avenue. We had our February meeting there and it was very nice and the food was good. We had a large room all to ourselves.   At our last meeting we voted to order the special, which is broasted chicken for $6.50 (I think).  Also learned that coffee is not free.

By ordering our food in advance, we help the volunteer staff and they are able to plan to have the correct amount of food on hand for our luncheon. A tip plate is passed for the volunteers. Please call Brother Dick Weigel at 443-2632 with your order by noon on the Wednesday before our meeting.  Reservation deadline is Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
This month we will discuss the October Luncheon honoring the Grand Family:  Where to have it, What to have, and possible entertainment.
Star love,
Jean Burnett, Secy.

NEW GRAND REPRESENTATIVE

I had the pleasure to travel to Reliance Chapter in Bremerton and present the commission of District of Columbia to Diane Reid. We played a game of “WHO AM I”. six members were chosen and came to the East facing West. My helpers and I attached the names of presidents on their backs. Sister Diane’s sign read New Grand Representative of District of Columbia. They were given three minutes to go among the membership and ask questions about which president they might be. The only answers the crowd could give were “YES, NO, Ummmm….maybe”. Prizes were awarded to those who guessed their attached name. Diane was awarded a booby prize because she couldn’t guess who she was….her pin! Surprise, Surprise! What fun. There were several current and former Grand Representatives present including Kay Schroder, former GR of DC. It was a great evening. Thanks WGM for the privilege of presenting this commission. Hugs, Irene Jacobs, Grand Marshal

FREE MEMORIAL ROBES

Port Orchard Chapter has 10 white robes we would like to give to any Chapter that is in need. We used these robes years ago for our memorial services and eventually replaced about 10 years ago. We are hoping there is a Chapter out there that is interested in them. They are not the style like a choir robe with the pleated front but they are a beautiful white.

In addition, Rose Gross has extra cups, saucers and plates from when the Worthy Grand Matrons sold china. Anyone that is trying to complete a collection or are looking for a specific one please let me know.

For either the robes or china contact Rose Gross, 360-876-2794 or ragross@wavecable.com

NEW GRAND REPRESENTATIVE OF SOUTH CAROLINA

Pat and I traveled through a snowstorm to Ferndale Chapter Monday evening (March 5th) and had the pleasure of awarding the appointment of Grand Representative of South Carolina to Jacelyn King, who is listed as Secretary in the Blue Book.
We had fun doing a little skit that involved crowning several princesses, a prince, a queen, and then the "King". A special badge of honor was awarded to "King Jacelyn" - her Grand Representative pin.
All members present where delighted that Jacelyn was chosen for this honor.

Parking for Grand Conductress Reception Saturday Feb 17

For those inquiring about parking at the Edmonds Masonic Center on Saturday, there are some parking lots within about a block or two you might want to try.

You can park in the lot at the Christian Science Church at the corner of 6th and Maple - one block south of the Center.

You can park in the lot at the pet store at the corner of 6th and Main - one block northeast and down the alley from the Center - but PLEASE LEAVE THE SPOTS BY THEIR DOOR OPEN FOR THEIR PATRONS or they won't let us park there anymore.

You can park in the municipal lot at 6th and Bell by the Police Department and Municipal Court if you have been good - about 2 blocks north of the Center.

If you like to read, you might try the parking lot at the library about a block and a half east of the Center on Dayton.

We look forward to seeing you and hope for good weather!

GRAND REPRESENTATIVE OF CALIFORNIA

Last evening, February 6, Jim Iverson, Grand Chaplain, presented the appointment of Grand Representative of California to Mary Nelson of Madrona Chapter. She is listed in the Blue Book as Treasurer. Jim and I did a little skit about looking for a gold miner. I gave Jim hints and he moved around the room asking if a certain person would be a good miner. He ended by saying Mary would make an excellent gold miner and presented her with her California gold pin. She was extremely surprised and very emotional. California is special to her as she has a son who lives there.
Mary's husband, Frank, was also honored that night with the presentation of his 25 year pin, so it was a great night for the Nelsons.
Love and hugs~
Pat Iverson

NEW GRAND REPRESENTATIVE OF MISSOURI

On February 1st Sunnyside Chapter members & visitors followed the dot-to-dot numbers to discover the outline of the state of Missouri, while learning interesting tidbits about that state. Missouri's flower is the sweet flowering hawthorn, their tree the dogwood, their bird the blue bird, etc.
A portion of the Missouri Worthy Grand Matron's greeting to the new appointee was shared with the the membership. Then it was time to unveil the newly commissioned Grand Representative of Missouri by presenting her with the symbols of her state and her blue & gold jewel.
It was probably a good thing Worthy Matron Roberta Still had been sitting! To say this Maplet Deputy Instructor was being "blown away" might be an understatement. She was very "still" upon her announcement.
Following the meeting a phone call was made to Gary Roth, the previous Grand Representative of Missouri. It seems Gary and Roberta will be sharing more information.

NEW GRAND REPRESENTATIVE OF COLORADO

Good news, on January 31, 2012, Grand Sentinel Rodger Collins and grand escort Helen traveled to Priscilla Chapter located in Port Gamble, to present Elizabeth (Liz) Claire Punt, Worthy Matron of Priscilla Chapter # 96 the commission to be Grand Representative of Colorado for the next two years. It was a makeup meeting from our little snow adventure. When the Grand Representatives had been introduced, I broke in and asked the WM to approach the East, and informed her and the chapter there was a Grand Representative that had not been introduced. I gave a few mildly interesting facts about Colorado, then presented the commission to Liz. When it was time to attach the badge, I asked her husband, WP Mike Punt to do the honors. It was sweatshirt and house slippers night. Jerry Clark, past escort to PGM Joanne, received his twenty-five year pin, and a half a bushel of cookies from all the members, a little payback cooked up by Jessica Counsellor. Grand secretary, Sandra K. Henry and escort Don Daly were in attendance; Don was wrenching on something and wrenched his thumb really bad. We all went down stairs to ice cream, cookies and punch. A wonderful evening, it is so nice to be able to dispense a little happiness into someone’s life. Enjoy your commission Liz. Rodger Collins, Grand Sentinel
