Several New Grand Representatives!!!

It was my (Nancy Jorgensen, Grand Esther) pleasure to present the Grand Representative of Minnesota commission to Richard Moulden from Pyramid Chapter in Federal Way on January 10th!  Gave him several items, milk, Blueberries, Wild Rice and Chocolate because he is not sweet enough!!  Such Fun!

Tonight (January 10th) AGP Rodger Collins and Grand Escort Helen traveled to the OV at Tyee & Southgate Chapters to present the Grand Representative of North Carolina commission to Jan Cooke. She is the Secretary of Tyee Chapter. I read the official toast of North Carolina and then had everyone raise an imaginary glass to our new Grand Representative of North Carolina......Jan Cooke.  Many cheers and pandemonium followed.  I then presented her credentials and put her new pin on for her. YAY JAN!

Grand Marshal, JoDee Desrosier presented the Grand Representative of San Paulo, Brazil to Harmony Chapter’s Worthy Matron, Alice Hill and the Grand Representative of Massachusetts to Silver Star Chapter’s Worthy Matron, Cynthia Gocke on January 10th at the meeting in Waterville.

The place to be was Pacific Chapter in Ilwaco on January 10th. We had about 30 people who braved the weather report. PGP Paul Runyan and his Lovely wife Barbara (inside joke) were in attendance along with our DI Pat Finlay.  WP Les Moore is the new Grand Representative of Saskatchewan. We initiated a new member tonight so I (Kristine Ford, Associate Grand Conductress) waited until Good of the Order and stood up and told the WM that I had forgotten to read something important. I began reading some facts and said it was my pleasure to be giving this commission and then I pretended that something was wrong with my glasses....opps missing lens, try another pair broken, opened a case...nothing inside.  So I ask WP Les to come to the Secretary's deck and help me read the fine print. And there was his letter appointing him. The Chapter stood and cheered and gave him well wishes. A great time was had by all.

Tuesday evening, January 15th, I (Jean Ballard, Grand Martha) had the pleasure of attending Greenwood Chapter’s Friends’ Night. Under Good of the Order, I stood and announced that I had something that was for the good of the Order. WM pro-tem Kazi Scott had the Bible closed, and I approached the East. I began by saying I had thought and thought about how to present this commission, and that I had decided the best way to make the announcement was to go with a “Disney” theme and then I put on my Mickey Mouse ears visor and sunglasses. I announced that the commission to be given was for Grand Representative of Florida – home of the Happiest Place on Earth. I then asked the current and former Grand Representatives in attendance to come to the East to help me find the newest member of the “Club.” All of us marched around the room singing the Mickey Mouse Club song and we managed to finish just as I arrived at the Secretary’s desk where I was delighted to announce that the very surprised Dee Schmidt was the new Grand Representative of Florida in Washington. There was lots of applause and hoopla! A great time was had by all. Congratulations to Sister Dee on a well-deserved honor!

There was a big surprise in Alki Chapter, Walla Walla, Thursday evening, January 17th. Worthy Matron Diana Osborne received the commission of Grand Representative of New Brunswick.  Diana and her husband Worthy Patron Ken, were so surprised they actually were without words.

Please remember to pray for her and for Tom. Mary Lou's address is listed in the current Blue Book under Deputy Instructors.

It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you of the passing of Tom Henson, Grand Chaplain, today at about 5pm. His escort Marilyn Schahfer was with him at the time of his death. Tom was recently released from rehab after being in Sacred Heart Hospital. There are no details yet regarding services but I will pass along that information as soon as it becomes available.

Two New Grand Representatives

I (Janet Pitcher, Grand Ruth) traveled to Alderwood Chapter on Thursday, January 3rd to announce a Grand Representative appointment to 33 members who came out to join the party.  After taking care of the appropriate sluething and being assured the appointee would be at the meeting we arrived with great excitement.....and lo and behold no appointee!!! Oh what to do???  I talked to the Worthy Matron, and we decided to give a call from the meeting to see what was up.......and I had the pleasure of announcing BARBARA PEDERSON AS THE NEW GRAND REPRESENTATIVE OF CONNECTICUTBarabara was somewhat speechless, and when she heard everyone in the chapter room clapping and cheering she asked where we were and were we partying.  It was a fun evening, and I will look forward to meeting with Barbara and giving her her pin and Grand Representative paperwork.

It is with great pleasure I (Calvin Russell, Grand Organist) announce Sister Judy Nalley of Delta Chapter #109 as the newly appointed Grand Representative of Michigan in Washington!!  Thursday evening, January 3rd, I traveled to Delta Chapter in Auburn to present Sister Judy with her commission.   To accomplish the complete surprise, Brother Calvin conducted a short 'breakfast survey' of select Delta members.   He asked the first question of Sister Judy, a 'loaded' question to which her only response could be 'cereal'.   After several others responded to questions, he returned to Sister Judy — who at this point had her cell phone camera pointed at the person she "just knew" was going to be the recipient — and said to Sister Judy, "I liked your answer of cereal the best. Cereal comes from Battle Creek, Michigan, and YOU are the new Grand Representative of Michigan in Washington!!"  The room erupted in joyous congratulations.   Sister Judy was absolutely dumbfounded.   She laughed, she cried, she accepted all the warm accolades from her Sisters & Brothers with many hugs and much delight.

At Alma Chapter in Kennewick, the New Year was celebrated with the presentation to Patsy Stevenson with a commission of Grand Representative of New Hampshire by Sister Diane Smith, Grand Adah.
Special guests, J. Paul Fitzsimmons, Past Grand Patron and JoDee Derosier, Grand Marshall, were able to join the many sisters & brothers of Central Washington to congratulate the very surprised Patsy on her new appointment.
