Prayers Needed
Worthy Matron of Greenwood Chapter, Helen Van Allen's home
burned on September27th in Kent. Her husband and grandson perished in the fire. No more details are available at this time. Our thoughts and prayers need to
go out to sister Helen and her family.
New Grand Representative
What a great evening last night at Cedar Chapter when I presented a Grand Representative of Illinois commission to Sister Johanna Langlow. Irene Jacobs stood up and was so excited thinking she was the recipient until she remembered she had already been a Grand Officer last year! Well she sat down and Terry Cramer, Grand Warder stood next to Johanna and asked her to come with her to the East! Oh my she was really surprised and the tears flowed!
I presented her with several John Deer items because its the home of John Deer to include a lunchbox and hat!
All the members of Cedar Chapter were happy for their most devoted member!

Lots of pictures
What a busy and fun week we've had.
On Wednesday Sep 20th we went to Sunnyside for their OV and 100th birthday. Great food and lots of fun.

On Thursday Sep 21st we went to Waitsburg for their OV with Alki Chapter. What a beautiful Chapter room they have.

Saturday Sep 22nd we convened in Richland for the Reception for Diane Smith, Grand Adah of Washington. It was filled with friendship and laughter - especially when Diane's cousin LuLu came for a visit. Before the luncheon, Diane Rice presented a check for $3,000 to the Hospice at the Chaplaincy in the Tri-Cities from the Eastern Star Charities.

Tuesday Sept 25th Analia Chapter went to Doric Chapter intent on taking away the King County traveling gavel. It was a tight race as Occidental Chapter had the same intention, but Analia had one member more than Occidental, so the traveling gavel will now rest in Edmonds until another Chapter steals it away. It was a very special night because the members of Friendship-Rose Chapter in Portland were there visiting and the Past Most Worthy Grand Patron and Worthy Associate Grand Conductress of Australia were also there for a visit. Everyone had a great time.

Update on Joe Ivey, PGP of Arizona
Hello Everyone,
I guess it's about time I sent out an update on Joe. It's been
almost 2 months since we left Seattle to return him home to Prescott.
We managed the trip well, and after getting settled in, we were able to
get him to Arizona's Grand Chapter, August 1st and enjoy his Honors both
Thursday Afternoon and Evening for being not only Arizona's Senior Past
Grand Patron, but for serving 50 years ago! He enjoyed his time there
and the visits he had with many old friends. The 3 Ivey "Kids" made a
presentation to Grand Chapter of a new American Flag in his Honor. The
rest of his family was all there too, to help in the celebration and
also to celebrate his 89th birthday which was the 13th of August. He
survived all the festivities with a little rest now and then.
Since then we have had a few short outings, just to get him out and
about, but he does get tired easily. He has been on oxygen now for
about a month, and gets weaker as time goes by. Hospice here is just as
wonderful as they were in Seattle and he is getting very good care; the nurse comes every week, and the social worker every 2 weeks, or when we need something, and the chaplain
comes whenever we need him, and he visits, sings hymns, prays with us,
and even brings communion. He saw the kidney Dr yesterday, and so far, his kidneys are holding
up well, considering the Congestive Heart Failure, and the amount of
diuretics he has been taking. He had blood work yesterday for the
Congestive Heart Failure and the results show that his heart is failing
even more, and he will have up days and down days as he gets weaker.
He is using his walker all the time now, while his legs are still able
to support him. His daughter Judie is here with me again, and we are
doing our best to see that he is comfortable, and see that he does what
he wants as long as he is able. He looks forward everyday for the mailman to come, so if anyone
would like to send a card, I know he would deeply appreciate reading
them. Address is:
912 Old Stage Rd, Prescott AZ 86303 ..... And prayers are especially welcome.
Phone 928-776-9351 sometimes he may not want to talk,
Carmen Ivey

Clarification for October 6 Luncheon/reception
Re: the Luncheon/Reception for the AGM and AGP on October 6th:
There seems to be some confusion about this, so let me clarify it a little.
The Luncheon and reception are one and the same. They are not 2 separate events and they are happening in the same place at the same time. We will start serving lunch at 1 pm and the entertainment, introductions and everything else will start around 1:30. No need to get up and move!
Yes, it's different from the receptions you're used to, but we wanted to do something to benefit the youth groups and combining our luncheon/reception seemed like a great way to accomplish that goal. Doors will open at 11:30 for luncheon donations and to purchase tickets for the raffle baskets.
If you haven't let me know you are coming, please do so ASAP so we know how much food to buy.
Hope to see you there!
Thanks & Hugs!

New Grand Representative
Terry Bennett of Syringa Chapter, Yakima, was appointed Grand
Representative to Quebec on Sept 10, 2011. The members were very happy
& Terry was very surprised. His response - "Now - I don't know
what to say?" Grand Adah, Diane Smith, had the honor to present Terry
with his commission. When Syringa & Sunnyside Chapters need a
Worthy Patron or Assoc. Patron, Terry is there. As a Rainbow Dad, when
the girls wanted a "Tiki" Dad, Terry was there to grant their wish. As
Potentate of Mazada Shrine, the Divan is known as "Terry's Canary's" in
their bright yellow coats.

OV at Masonic Park
Saturday Sept 8th is the OV for Afton Chapter and Homecoming for JPGP
Frank Pascoe at the Masonic Park in Granite Falls. The time is 1:30pm
and the weatherman is saying we are going to have a beautiful day.
I just want to put out that the dress code for the event is summer casual - for the ladies summer dresses or Hawaiian and for the gentlemen, khaki slacks and Hawaiian or Guyabarra shirts. It can get cool in the trees so keep that thought in mind. PLEASE no heels or dressy dresses/tuxedos! The ground is uneven and we want everyone to be safe.
There are benches but they are not padded so you may want to bring a blanket or cushion to sit on. Some may even want to bring lawn chairs for more comfort.
We are excited to be able to have an OV in this beautiful setting and want all to have an enjoyable afternoon.
Fraternally,
Gerry Mosler
