Washington OES website - update!

Just wanted to give you an update on the progress of the official website www.washingtonoes.org.

Last year was a transitional year for the site.  Our Chairman Joan Kershner's illness and eventual passing was a big blow to the committee and we didn't have the opportunity to carry out our plans.

We have regrouped and under our new chairman - Vicki Voorhees - are hard at work redesigning, streamlining and modernizing the site.  We have made a lot of progress and should be ready to transition to the new site sometime in mid August.  The web address will be the same and we will still use the blog for breaking news, invitations, photo albums and general announcements.

The old site will stay up until the new one is ready so you will still have access to the forms and links to the Chapters and other jurisdictions.

We value your opinions about the site and would be happy to have any feedback you want to give us going forward. The email for the website is waoesweb@gmail.com

Thank you for your patience during this transition!

First OV - July 16th

The first OV was held in a very packed house at Crystal Chapter in Enumclaw.  There wasn't a chair left in the dining room by the time we finished stealing them all.  This year WGM Gloria is honoring the "worker bees" from each Chapter and Don and LaNita stole the show in their bee hats.  Everyone was thrilled with the exciting and suspensful announcement of Neil Glessing of Key City Chapter as the new Grand Representative of Montana.  Grand Adah Cindy Schneider did a great job of rounding him up with the aid of Chuck and Mary Callen.

It was a very fun afternoon and we are looking forward to a great year.

NEW GRAND REPRESENTATIVE

During the response by WGM Gloria Schwartz at the 1st OV at Crystal Chapter in Enumclaw on Saturday, July 16th she asked Cindy Schneider, Grand Adah to come help her. Cindy then proceeded to go on a search for a new sheriff and with the assistance of PGP Chuck Callen & his escort Mary they finally lassoed the new Grand Representative of Montana, Neil Glessing. He is currently WP of Key City Chapter.

2012 Charity Golf Tournament - August 19th!

Just a reminder to get your reservations in for the Annual Charity Golf Tournament to be held at Ft. Lewis Golf Course on Friday, August 19th.  If you play golf, you will enjoy the beautiful course on the base, but golfing is limited to the first 144 people to sign up.  There are lots of prizes!

If you don't golf but would like to spend the day with lots of fun people, you can hang out at the clubhouse with the rest of us and then enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner and possibly win even more prizes when the golfing is over.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Scottish Rite Rite Care of Washington.

To sign up, use the forms on the side bar of the blog under "Forms".  When you have them open, don't hit the print icon on your browser - instead go to the word "File" on the left side of the page and print the forms from there.

Registrations with $$$ need to be to Alice Hammontree by August 12 at the very latest

We look forward to seeing you there!

Pop Tab Report

It was a really big year for Pop Tabs!

Zillah Chapter turned in 1,764 pounds
PGP Dick Weigel turned in 294 pounds
John Chamberlain turned in 1,573 pounds from Grand Chapter

That's a total of 3,631 pounds!!!

We're not sure how much Zillah Chapter received for their pop tabs, but we estimate that in total we were able to raise over $2,200 for Ronald McDonald House!

Great Job everyone!  Now, let's try to do even better next year!
