Prayers Needed for PGM Marilyn Hoots!!

On March 31, I went in for a routine mammogram.  They called me back for more pictures and a consultation on April 4, and then for a biopsy on April 5.  Dr. Kramer, the radiology doctor continually said that she expected it to be calcium deposits.  She asked how I would like the results and I said that a phone call would be fine.  On Friday I was called and confirmed that it is cancer.  It is in the same breast where I had cancer 27 years ago.

Tomorrow (Monday) I will go in for blood tests, lung x-ray and an MRI.  On Wednesday we will talk with the cancer team of doctors at Virginia Mason – breast cancer doctor, radiology oncologist and medical oncologist.  They are all women.
Needless to say, I am scared, angry, but hopeful.

PLEASE PRAY FOR US!!!!!  Bill will be with me, of course, and it will probably be harder on him than me.  After 27 years it was not the answer I expected.
We will keep you posted.

Love you all,
Marilyn and Bill Hoots

2011 - Apr 2 - Reception for Grand Esther Lorna Burns

Grand Esther Lorna entered wearing a beautiful bright orange dress and matching heels, accented by a white leather fringed jacket. WM Louise and WP Gregg did a great job with the introductions, which included the Grand Officers coming in wearing bunny ears and carrying large pocket watches and singing "I'm Late" from Alice in Wonderland. Following introductions WM Louise turned over the meeting to Lorna. With a welcome of HOWDY she carried out her part very well. Introductions followed including all 4 of their children, several grandchildren and a number of other friends and relatives. It was a fun afternoon for all in attendance. Lorna and Gregg are much loved in their area and very much appreciated for all they do for their Chapter. Responses were given by WGM Linda, WGP Dick, PGM Marjoe Richards, PGP J. Paul Fitzsimmons and the final mystery speaker, Grand Marshal Karen Whipple. The meeting wrapped up and refreshments were enjoyed by all.

2011 - Mar 31 - King Co. 5 Deputy Honor Night

The Honor Night for the 5 King County Deputies was held on Thursday, March 31st at the Landmark on the Sound (old MRC).  Here's a description of the activities from Grand Conductress Gerry Mosler.

the honor night went really well - so well planned by the honorees and their chapters.

The main lodge room was filled - I didn't count but a guess would be 150. Each of the chapter WM's and WP's did a portion of the work. Laurel opened, Delta did introductions, Southgate did Good of the Order, Rada Uphus did the responses, Pyramid did the closing.

After opening and introductions the Decatur High School Chamber Choir performed - 13 very talented youngsters and they were wonderful. Even did an encore number!

Each honoree gave a brief response - limited to no more than 2 minutes and they stuck to it - recognizing the chapters they instruct and any special family and friends.

Gini responded for all 5 Deputies and then Margaret Morgan (for Bill Pond), Kit Wells (for Richard Moulden), Gary Craig (for Janet Sebastian), Dennis Okicich (for Mary Lindell), and myself (for Kristin Dycus) did a joint response. And we did a great job, if I do say so myself!

Refreshments followed in the dining room.

All in all a great evening and it was over in 2 hours!
